Conference under Project for Common Opportunities for Companies in the “Textile and Apparel” Sector of the Cross-Border Region


A conference under Project “Together on the European Market – Common Opportunities for Companies in the “Textile and Apparel” Sector of the Cross-Border Region” co-funded by the European Union through the Cross-Border Cooperation Bulgaria – Serbia Programme was held.

BCCI is a partner in the project together with the Textile and Clothes Branch Organization and the Municipality of Leskovac, Serbia.  The overall objective of the project is to achieve an active exchange of best practices and collaborative regional planning and to ensure that the companies in the textile and clothing sector operating in the cross-border region will be able to make use of the new market opportunities in the expanding European Union through a thorough research and analysis of the current state of the clothing industry, the market and the labor resources, as well as to carry out practical transfer of knowledge and experience between the companies in both border countries.

During the two-day conference, lecturers presented data about the “Textile and Apparel” sector as an economically potent sector in the cross-border region Bulgaria – Serbia.

Sociologist Tsvetelina Stoyanova presented summarized data from a research on the product range and production capacity of the “Textile and Apparel” sector in the cross-border Bulgarian regions. She emphasized the development of the sector on EU level providing information about the markets of Germany, Italy and France.

Tsolo Kanchev, Consultant, presented the perspectives for development of the textile and clothing sector in the region.

Companies from Bulgaria and Serbia had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange information and good practices.
