The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) took part in the Third EU-Southeast Europe Summit in Split, Croatia at the special invitation of “Economist Group”.
The Chamber was represented by its President Tsvetan Simeonov, Todor Tabakov – member of the Executive Council of BCCI and Lidya Shuleva – member of the Board of Directors of BCCI and Chair of the Bulgarian – Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce.
After the success of the previous two summits held in Bulgaria (in 2013) and Romania (in 2014) this year the organizers emphasized on the need of EU initiatives addressing the deficiencies of the European single market, stimulating innovation and competitiveness, encouraging education and vocational training.
Financing SMEs, energy and tourism were in the focus of discussions. The future EU policy on enlargement, easing EU sanctions on Russia in 2015 and the potential of Southeast European countries as a driving force for economic growth were discussed.
Vesna Pusic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Ministers from the Southeast European region, representatives of the World Bank, the European Commission, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, local authorities, businessmen and investors took part in the summit.
