“Membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) would be of great benefit to Bulgaria. It would increase the prestige and reputation of Bulgaria economy, which will be among the most advanced economies in the world,” says the Association of the Organizations of Bulgarian Employers (AOBE) in a letter sent to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and all parliamentary represented political parties and the media.
In the document, the four nationally representative employers’ organizations – Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA), Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA), Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), and Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) emphasize the great importance of Bulgaria’s OECD membership to the Bulgarian business and highlight the need of urgent diplomatic actions in the period until early June 2017 when the next meeting of the OECD Council at ministerial level will take place. During the meeting it is likely that new countries will be invited to membership talks.
The employers’ organizations call on the relevant institutions to make every effort to present a strong and motivated Bulgarian candidacy for membership in OECD.
