The U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Eric Rubin gave a public lecture on theme “America and Bulgaria: allies and partners”. The event was organized by the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria. Among the guests was the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov.

The interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria will be of serious strategic importance for Bulgaria, the U.S. Ambassador said. Secretary of State John Kerry promised Bulgaria support for energy diversification and security, Ambassador Rubin reminded and said that the United States have helped for the collaboration between Bulgaria and Greece on the establishment of the gas link between the two countries.

Times are not easy for anyone in the region, especially for Bulgaria”, Ambassador Rubin commented. “Let me say that the U.S. is next to you and will support the choices you have made – for Europe and for transatlantic relations”.

There are strong connections between Bulgaria and the USA, both in the face of the American University in Blagoevgrad and of the thousands of Bulgarian students who travel to work and find new friends there. Soon we will issue the 100 thousandth visa to Bulgarian students going to the USA to work over the summer, Ambassador Rubin added.

We see the partnership between Bulgaria and the USA as an anchor that will bring stability in the Balkans, the Ambassador pointed out.
