BCCI and the Ministry of Economy awarded Bulgarian commercial and economic sections abroad

For the 9th consecutive year, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria awarded the most successful Bulgarian commercial and economic sections abroad during an official ceremony held at the Chamber.

First place in the classification, with indisputable results for 2018, went to the Bulgarian Commercial and Economic Section in Romania, with Head Mr. Ivaylo Marinov. “In addition to developing the economic ties, now we are working to develop the infrastructure which will facilitate the business, we are thinking about a 3rd and a 4th bridge along the Danube river”, Mr. Marinov said when receiving the award. He received a bronze statuette “Hermes” and a Diploma for contribution to the development of the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Romania, contribution to increasing Bulgarian exports abroad and foreign investments in Bulgaria, and support for achieving BCCI’s goals and objectives.

The second place in the classification went to the Commercial and Economic Section in the Federal Republic of Germany, and the third place – to Bulgaria’s Commercial and Economic Section in the Russian Federation.

Three more commercial sections abroad received honorary diplomas:

  • the Commercial and Economic Section in Canada;
  • the Commercial and Economic Section in Poland;
  • the Commercial and Economic Section in the USA.

For the first time, the award for Bulgaria’s most successful commercial and economic section abroad was bestowed in 2011, according to criteria developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy. The evaluation criteria, like in the previous years, contain two groups of indicators: statistical data and provided assistance to businesses.

The first group of criteria includes: increasing Bulgarian exports to the respective country, attracted foreign investment in Bulgaria and foreign tourists from the respective country.

The second group covers the active work of the commercial and economic sections with the Bulgarian business – providing and disseminating useful information, assistance for business visits to the respective country, and organization of bilateral forums and meetings.
