BCCI will partner with the World Bank for a business survey

The COVID-19 impact on businesses was the topic of an online meeting between Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI and Fabrizio Zarcone, Permanent Representative of the World Bank for Bulgaria. Experts from both institutions also took part in the discussion. BCCI reported that on 27 April it completed a nation-wide survey on the impact of the measures adopted by the government in response to the pandemic.

The World Bank’s survey aims to better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses, with an emphasis on SMEs. The results of the survey will be useful to the government for helping businesses during the crisis and especially in the post-crisis recovery period. The methodology of the survey is unified, which will help compare our country’s position to other countries globally.

During the meeting, Tsvetan Simeonov emphasized that the World Bank can rely on BCCI’s partnership in promoting the questionnaire so that it reaches a wider audience. In the Chamber’s view, the involvement of businesses in such initiatives is important for formulating consensus-based economic measures. BCCI has already sent two packages of measures to the Government based on surveys held among its members.

Fabrizio Zarcone said that the World Bank Representation in Bulgaria is in constant dialogue with the Bulgarian institutions and relies on BCCI’s capacity to involve more companies in the survey.
