Press conference to present “Bulgaria in figures”
On the eve of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the chambers of commerce and industry in Bulgaria, BCCI presented its annual edition “Bulgaria in figures”.
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov also reported on the positive trends in various sectors of economy in the first months of 2015:
- The GDP increased by 2% in the 1st quarter of 2015 as compared to the 1st quarter of 2014. Bulgaria ranks 11th by GDP growth among the EU member-states.
- High growth rates of exports were recorded – from 12.8% in the period January – April 2015 as compared to January – April 2014.
- An increase of the industrial production index by 1.5% in April 2015 as compared to April 2014.
- Employed persons – 56 thousand more employed persons in the 1st quarter of 2015 as compared to the 1st quarter of 2014.
- Registered budget surplus (consolidated fiscal programme) – over BGN 1.1 B in May 2015 as compared to deficit of BGN 887 M in May 2014.
82% of the resources under the operational programmes have been absorbed by the end of May 2015, compared to 62% absorbed funds last year. Another positive trend is that Bulgaria has preserved its international rating.
The brochure “Bulgaria in figures” is issued in support of the positive opportunities provided by Bulgarian economy. This year’s edition presents summarized information about the country’s economy in the period 2010 – 2014 allowing to quickly get acquainted with the most important economic indicators and the conditions for doing business in Bulgaria. For the first time Bulgaria’s position in the most important international rankings is included in the brochure.
“Bulgaria in figures” is circulated among the 70 diplomatic representations accredited in Bulgaria seated in Sofia and among 60 commercial and economic offices of Bulgaria abroad, as well as among the members of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry “EUROCHAMBRES” and the members of the World Trade Centers Association.
BCCI also distributes “Bulgaria in figures” during the regular visits of foreign delegations to our country, Bulgarian delegations abroad, business forums and other important events.
