On the 1st of June in Geneva was officially open the 104th Session of the International Labour Conference. Participants in the event are representatives of governments, employers and employees from 185 states - members of the International Labour Organization. Representatives of the Bulgarian employers in the Session are: Mr. Dimiter Brankov, Vice-President of the BIA in its capacity of a delegate and Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov – President of the BCCI in its capacity of a deputy-delegate.
Within the framework of the Session sits the Committee on SMEs and Employment Creation. In its work throughout the Conference participate representatives of the BCCI on the part of the Bulgarian employers and of the CL “Podkrepa” on the part of of the syndicates. The focus of the debates was on the approaches to SMEs support through relevant governmental policy. “Providing employment of two thirds of the employees all over the world the SMEs need access to credits, skill development and transition from non-formal to formal economy” said Mrs. Zornitsa Roussinova, President of the SME Committee and Bulgarian Vice-Minister of Labour and Social Policy.
As per the ILO research on the EU, 85% of the new jobs are created in the small and medium enterprises. These enterprises, however, often have great difficulties in guaranteeing their functioning, and only a small part of them manage to generate profits.
The targeted discussions undoubtedly will contribute to greater acknowledgement of the SME role for the development of the economy, of the social sphere and of the society as a whole. The conclusions made will motivate the social partners and the government to make efforts for the improvement of the Bulgarian legislation in this field, commented from Geneva the President of the BCCI.
