The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTPI) agreement between the European Union and the United States will promote the economic growth and the investments in Bulgaria. This is what the Head of State Rosen Plevneliev said, opening the forum dedicated to the transatlantic economic cooperation, which was held in Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan.
Prospects for Bulgaria’s economy in the light of a possible free trade agreement signing between the EU and the US is the topic of the one-day forum, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham).
Among the participants of the forum, were diplomats, former and recent deputies, members of the government, business representatives, non-government organisations, the scientific community. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented by its Secretary-General Vassil Todorov.
President Plevneliev described the talks between the European Union and the United States as a decisive step into the strategic transatlantic partnership. He stated that a basic principle Bulgaria will adhere to in the negotiations is coming to alleviations for the small and medium-sized enterprises in the country.
The negotiations aim at removing trade barriers (tariffs, unnecessary regulations, restrictions on investment, etc.) in a wide range of economic sectors as to make easier to buy and sell goods and services between the EU and the US.
