Bulgarian business is ready for the introduction of the Euro

According to Bulgarian employers, after Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone, the Bulgarian economy will have additional incentives for more effective development, including being able to benefit from positive aspects such as an increase in the country's credit rating, additional guarantee mechanisms common to the Eurozone, attracting foreign investors, growth in local investments due to cheaper financial resources for businesses and citizens, as well as due to the larger volume of available financial resources, etc.

In accordance to a study by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the level of awareness and readiness of businesses for Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone, the share of companies that are well informed and advanced in their preparations, together with those that are partially ready, exceeds 65%. The reason that companies are only partially ready and insufficiently informed is rooted in the lack of an explanatory campaign and insufficient awareness at this stage. This can be completely overcome through a clear and active campaign to answer all questions and concerns of entrepreneurs and citizens. The largest percentage of surveyed companies (67%) indicate the need for information and clarifications in relation to accounting and tax reporting. 43% of respondents need additional clarifications regarding the payment process in the transitional period with two currencies.

We would like to note, that the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has unreservedly and consistently stated over the years its convinced support for the introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria. This position was enshrined in the Program for the activities of the BCCI, as well as in the priorities of the Association of Bulgarian Employers' Organizations.
