The first website in the Cyrillic domain ".бг" - "имена.бг" is already a reality in the global Internet space. It was created after the Board of Directors of the International Corporation for Internet Names and Addresses (ICANN) approved the request of the association "Imena.BG" AD on an organization - register of the high level domain in Cyrillic ".бг".

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications was involved in the preparation of lists for keeping the names of state authorities and the municipalities in order to ensure the reputation of the new domain. For example, the name "софия.бг" can be solely claimed and registered by local authorities in the capital, rather than by individuals.

Initially a 3-month initial phase of registration (sunrise) is envisaged, in which with priority will be registered domains of organizations based on the name (company name, trademark, etc.).

The development and the testing of a software for the new register continues.
