Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Alexander Poulev met with Chinese Ambassador Dai Qingli to discuss expanding bilateral economic and investment cooperation, the Economy Ministry said on Monday. The talks focused on increasing Bulgarian exports to China, developing joint projects and preparations for the 19th session of the Bulgaria-China Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, due to take place in China in the autumn.
Both sides noted growing interest among Chinese companies in investing in Bulgaria. Poulev said the government's goal is to turn that interest into high-value investment projects that create quality jobs, promote technology transfer and strengthen the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy.
The two also discussed opportunities for cooperation in energy, infrastructure, decarbonization and transport, as well as partnerships between Bulgarian industrial zones and leading Chinese companies.
Poulev stated the government will continue pursuing closer strategic ties with China and expressed hope that the upcoming joint commission meeting will provide fresh momentum for bilateral economic relations. Dai Qingli reaffirmed China's readiness to encourage investment and support joint projects between businesses and institutions in the two countries.
