Bulgaria has two strategic objectives in the gas area - the development of local production and the supply diversification. This was said by the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delian Dobrev on the first regional gas conference "Gas Perspectives".
The construction of the Southern Gas Corridor has a major role in the diversification of natural gas sources, noted Minister Dobrev. There are currently two options for its route - via Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria (Nabucco West) or through Greece and Italy (TAP).
According to Minister Dobrev better alternative for Bulgaria is the choice fall on Nabucco West and as Chairman of the Political Committee of the Nabucco our country will work actively for this perspective. One of the major arguments in this direction, according to Minister Dobrev is that Nabucco West provides access to larger market in the heart of Europe, compared with TAP, which passes through the peripheral part of the continent.
At the end of last year, the government took a decision and call competition for research and exploration in Block "St. Marina". Now is expected a publication of the notice in the Official Journal of the EU, which will give real start of the procedure.
Minister Dobrev announced that three companies have already purchased documents for participation in the search and exploration for oil and gas in block "Teres" in Deep Black Sea.
