The Bulgarian Government decided at its meeting on 11 February to allocate further BGN 15 million for additional co-financing of energy efficiency projects.
This concerns projects, which have already started and have applied for funding before the launch of the large-scale programme worth BGN 1 billion.
Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova commented the decision with the need to provide applicants with equal access to EU funding and national co-financing.
Pavlova announced that at present 97 buildings were approved, while another 190 buildings were still in the process of being assessed.
The Regional Minister said that the aim was to provide all applicants with financial support in 2015, as that was the year when the allocation of EU funding under the previous programme period expired.
The target is for 250-280 buildings to be allocated with BGN 50 million from EU funds and additional BGN 15 million coming from national co-financing.
