A total budget of 258,4 million euro (215,7 from the European Regional Development Fund) is now available for 8 districts in Bulgaria (Vidin, Vratsa, Montana, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Silistra, Dobrich) and 7 counties in Romania (Constanța, Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Călărași). The border area will be improved by joint projects, with cross-border impact.
Five priorities axes (except technical assistance priority axis) will finance projects in areas such as: sustainable transport, protecting the environment, promoting climate change adaptation, risk prevention and management, sustainable and quality employment, enhancing institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders.
The Bulgarian National Authority (Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works), Romanian Managing Authority (Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration) and the Joint Secretariat from Călărași (within the Regional Office for Cross Border Cooperation Călărași) are currently preparing the launching of the first calls for proposals.
