Delegation of the Bulgarian-Iraqi Trade and Economic Council visited Erbil





During the period 18 - 20 August, a delegation led by Dr. Eng. Trifon Iliev, Chairman of the Bulgarian-Iraqi Trade and Economic Council (BITIS) at the BCCI, visited the city of Erbil, Iraq. Meetings were held with official representatives of the regional government, including the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of the Kurdistan Region Sarwar Kamal Hawari, the Director General of Agriculture in Erbil Hemin Murad. Meetings were also held with representatives of private companies.

Issues were discussed regarding the possibilities for bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as well as the rules under which Bulgarian companies can trade, produce or create joint ventures in the region.

Promising for import into the region are facilities for fish farming, animal vaccines, auto-tractor equipment, production of medicines on request, construction of a facility for the production of herbs and their production and purchase. Interest was expressed in investments in Bulgaria, acquisition or construction of a pharmaceutical plant, purchase or lease of land for potato production, supply of used agricultural equipment.

During the visits and talks, Vasil Vassilev, representative of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Erbil, also participated, expressing Sofia's support for the development of trade relations between the two countries.
