Istanbul Construction Fair was presented at BCCI


The International Construction Fair which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey in the period 2 – 6 May 2012 was presented at a forum at BCCI. The event was opened by the Vice President of BCCI Mr. Georgy Stoev. The forum aimed to present the potential of Bulgaria and Turkey and to pave the way to future joint projects in the field of construction.

H.E. Ismail Aramaz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Bulgaria also welcomed the participants in the forum.

Eng. Nikolay Stankov, member of the Board of Directors and representative of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber, Sofia Branch made a presentation of the Bulgarian construction sector. He introduced the participants to the tendencies in the sector and future mutual projects. 

Baris Onay PhD., General Manager at YEM – Building Information Center provided information about the construction sector in Turkey. YEM is a private company engaged in information activity, organizing events and issuing economic magazines and directories.

Mr. Onay emphasized the need of Turkey to import energy for the industry. At present water power plants are being set up in the country. In 2011 Turkey’s exports amounted to USD 300 billion, and in 2013 their level is expected to reach USD 500 billion. Annual growth in construction is 10%. 

Mr. Boris Radulov, President of the Bulgarian Association for Construction Insulation and Waterproofing provided data about the insulation and waterproofing sector in Bulgaria. As a whole, there has been a decrease in construction levels after the large peak in 2008. With regard to the requirements of the European Union to save energy, a renovation of all Bulgarian buildings is upcoming, he reminded. Despite the decrease, the insulation market has a lot of potential.
