The President of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, strategic partner of BCCI in Germany, visited Bulgaria
On 1st and 2nd August, the President of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) Prof. Hans Heinrich Driftmann paid an official visit to our country at the invitation of Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev.
At a reception held at the Embassy of Germany on 1st August, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov discussed with Prof. Driftmann the development of Bulgarian – German economic relations and the role of chambers of commerce of the two countries as the link between the economies of Germany and Bulgaria. DIHK is a strategic partner of the BCCI in Germany and occupies a leading position in the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
During the talks, the active participation of BCCI in international organizations in the region was emphasized, including the Association of Balkan Chambers. The importance of the joint Partnership Project BCCI - DIHK for improving the organizational skills of Balkan Chambers of Commerce and developing their capacity in the field of business services was noted. The acquired experience and good practices are multiplying for the establishment of multilateral relations in the region. The project was completed successfully and at present a new project of the DIHK is being implemented targeted at the Chambers of Commerce of the Western Balkan countries. BCCI is not a beneficiary of the new project but takes active participation in the preparation of the Chambers of these countries for the common European market, because it supports the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries.
This was the first visit of Prof. Driftmann to our country. On the second day of his visit he had meetings with the Bulgarian President and Prime Minister.

Prof. Driftmann has been the Manager of the food company Peter Kölln KGaA for many years. As President of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce he represents the interests of almost 3.6 million German companies.
