Bulgarian – Ukrainian Chamber of Industry was established


At the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry the constituent assembly of the Bulgarian – Ukrainian Chamber of Industry with BCCI was held. The meeting was initiated by the Embassy of Ukraine in Sofia and was attended by representatives of the business. At the opening of the meeting, the Vice-President of BCCI Mr. Georgi Stoev said that this was a joint initiative of the business and the Embassy. 14 companies from various sectors of industry took part in the constituent meeting: business and legal consultations, air transport, petroleum products, cosmetics, pharmacy, construction, translation and legalization, agriculture, etc.  

The Ambassador of Ukraine H.E. Mykola Baltazhy also welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the founders of the new Chamber.  He especially thanked BCCI for supporting the initiative and providing the venue for the meeting. Among the future goals of the organization, Ambassador Baltazhy emphasized setting up an information and consulting center, exchanging information about tenders, developing projects under the Ukrainian pre-accession funds, providing legal services in the two countries and facilitating the investment and economic climate between Bulgaria and Ukraine. 

In his address, Mr. Stoev expressed hope that the future Chamber will generate ideas and help implement projects between the two countries. 

The participants in the meeting elected the management of the Bulgarian – Ukrainian Chamber of Industry.  Mrs. Lidya Shuleva, the newly-elected President, outlined the goals and presented the programme of the new organization. Among them were creating favourable conditions for doing business between Ukraine and Bulgaria, the proposal to establish a similar organization in Ukraine with the help of partner organizations and the BCCI, developing joint business projects, organizing jointly with BCCI bilateral business forums, etc. The new Chamber is open for new members.
