In July 2014 the total consumer confidence indicator decreases by 4.3 percentage points compared to its level 3 months ago which is due to the decreased confidence of both urban and rural inhabitants by 3.9 and 5.1 percentage points respectively.
The opinions about the development of the general economic situation in the country over the last 12 months and the expectations about the next 12 months are more pessimistic compared to the previous survey as a result of which the balance indicators decrease by 9.0 and 6.1 percentage points respectively. Compared to April the consumers’ assessments and expectations about the financial situation of their households are more unfavourable.
The consumers continue to consider that over the last 12 months there had been an increase of consumer prices, but at a lower rate in comparison with the assessments registered in the previous inquiry. However their inflation expectations about the next 12 months are strengthened.
As regards the unemployment in the country over the next 12 months the pessimism also increases, as the opinions of both the urban and rural population shifted towards the more negative expectations.
The present economic situation in the country continues to be assessed as unfavourable for savings from the majority of the consumers. However the last inquiry registers a slight improvement of the total assessment of the present situation for making major purchases of durable goods1, as the intensions of the consumers to make such expenditures over the next 12 months are also in the same direction.
