Strengthening economic cooperation between entrepreneurs from Bulgaria and Iran

Mr. Ali Akbar Rezaei, Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Iran in Sofia, visited BCCI and discussed with the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov upcoming joint initiatives.

The President of BCCI and his guest discussed the current economic situation in Bulgaria and Iran, as well as opportunities for development of the bilateral commercial and economic relations. Tsvetan Simeonov declared BCCI’s readiness to support businesses from both countries.

The state and work of the two joint Iranian – Bulgarian and Bulgarian – Iranian economic cooperation councils, established earlier at the Chambers of Commerce of both countries, was also discussed. Emphasis was placed on their practical work to strengthen the economic cooperation between entrepreneurs from Bulgaria and Iran.

According to the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, the sectors which Bulgaria identifies as promising for development of bilateral cooperation with Iran are: pharmaceutical industry, food industry, automotive industry – spare parts and accessories, chemical industry, and IT.

It was agreed to further analyse the opportunities for development and the unutilized potential for cooperation between Bulgaria and Iran.
