EU Club meets at the initiation of the Italian Presidency of the EU Council

At a regular meeting the EU Club with the BCCI celebrated the new rotation in chairing the Council of the European Union. The meeting, which was held at the Chamber, was attended by ambassadors and trade representatives of EU member states, representatives of the government and business, as well as NGOs, journalists and members of the Board of the BCCI. 

Ambassador of Greece in Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Dimostenis Stoidis presented the results achieved during the Greek Presidency in the first half of 2014, and then the Italian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Marco Conticelli outlined the priorities of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union till the end of the year. Among the identified priority areas are issues and challenges related to growth and employment, migration, EXPO 2015, digital single market, financial services regulation, etc.

Opening the meeting the BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov expressed satisfaction with the progress made during the Greek Presidency and voiced trust that the measures taken to meet the economic and social challenges facing the EU will find continuity during the Italian Presidency as well. 

During the meeting Mr. Andrea Casini, Deputy Chairman of the MB and Chief Operative Officer of Unicredit Bulbank presented the pace of economic recovery as a major challenge facing Bulgaria. The question about the security of our banking system was discussed, as the general opinion came to the conclusion that it is stable and of good liquidity.
