BCCI announced the ranking “TOP 100 - Companies leading in the Bulgarian economy”

During a press conference held on September 10, BCCI presented the ranking “TOP 100 - Companies leading in the Bulgarian economy in 2017”.

The BCCI’s ranking indicates that the fastest 100 growing companies in our country achieve nearly 90% average revenue growth, 1.1 million BGN average profit. This is the 20th annual ranking which BCCI delivers based only on objective and comparable data taken by the financial reports. More than 6 500 companies from all the sectors in the country participate, which produce about 83% of the GDP.

Compared to the last year’s release of the ranking, there is lower revenue growth, but higher profit growth.

The first place among the companies with the highest level of dynamism in the turnover takes the trade sector– with a share of 39% in the first hundred. Secondly, the service sector takes the 23% share, followed by the third position taken by the construction sector with a share of 14%. The sector is pushed forward not by the public procurement, but by the building construction and the real estate boom which have impact on the construction companies’ proper results in 2017.

In the industry, among the first 100 companies with amendment of the revenue sales, the food, chemical, and the textile sector are the most significant ones. These are traditionally well-developed sectors in Bulgaria, with good competitive positions vis-à-vis the foreign companies, relying on both the export and the domestic market.

The ranking related to the profit gains or losses is impressive. The first 50 companies achieve average growth of 562% in 2017 compared to 2016. In the last year’s ranking the increase was 359%. The average profit of this companies’ ranking is 4.1 million BGN, the lowest equal to 194 thousands BGN and the highest – 26 million BGN.

The major regional disparities still persist - the top 10 companies ranked by sales revenue in the Southwest region, make 10 times more turnover than the top 10 companies in Northwest Bulgaria.

The Northern Central Region takes the second place with total sales revenue of the first 10 largest companies. Companies from different industries have been ranked – biodiesel production, food industry, sanitary ceramics and others.

The Southern Central region takes the third place with realized production volumes among the first ten companies – mainly under the influence of the extractive industry, the metallurgy, the manufacture of machinery and equipment.

The methodology “TOP 100” includes only non-financial companies which have already completed 2017 and have profit sales revenue above 100 thousands BGN in 2016.

The President of BCCI Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov awarded the students from both the National High School in Finance and Business and the National Trade and Banking High School with certificates for “Completed Traineeship”. During their traineeship the students assisted in the process of collecting the companies’ data needed for the preparation of the ranking.
