BCCI took part in Bulgarian – Russian Forum

 

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov took part in a forum dedicated to the “Business Cooperation between Moscow and Bulgaria” during the Moscow Culture Days in Bulgaria. The aim is to give impetus to the development of business and cultural cooperation between Moscow and Sofia within the framework of the current Cooperation Programme between the Moscow City Government and Sofia Municipality for the period 2018 – 2020.

The forum was opened by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bulgaria H.E. Anatoly Makarov, who said that „Bulgaria is an important trade and economic partner of Russia”.

In his address to the participants, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov expressed support for the initiative on behalf of the Chamber, which is among the partners of the forum. Simeonov highlighted the fact that the Russian Federation is one of Bulgaria’s main foreign trade partners, pointing out the need to balance the bilateral trade, which means an increase of Bulgarian exports to Russia. In his speech he gave examples of successful Bulgarian investors on the Russian market, especially in the pharmaceutical, restaurant and machine-building sectors.

A delegation from Moscow, headed by the Minister of the Moscow City Government, Head of the Moscow City Foreign Economic and International Relations Department - Sergey Cheremin, took part in the forum. The delegation consisted of managers and representatives of companies and organizations from Moscow.

During the forum, speeches were delivered by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bulgaria H.E. Anatoly Makarov, the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Tourism – Irena Georgieva, and the CEO of Sofia Municipal Privatisation and Investment Agency – Vladimir Danailov.

Irena Georgieva, Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria presented the results of a survey conducted by the Ministry of Tourism among the tourists who visited Bulgaria. 66% of the surveyed Russian tourists rated Bulgaria positively as a tourist destination. The Russian, Romanian and British tourists are most satisfied with their stay in our country, the survey shows.

The forum continued with discussions dedicated to transport, culture and tourism.
