Forum in Varna discusses competitiveness, sustainable growth and employment


Extraordinary meeting of the Employers’ Group Bureau at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on theme “Highly Competitive Real Sector for Sustainable Economic Growth and Employment” was held in Varna on 6th and 7th July.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy Ivaylo Kalfin, the Minister of Economy Bozhidar Lukarski and the President of the Employers' Group at EESC Jacek Krawczyk were among the speakers of the forum. The Vice-President of BCCI Georgi Stoev, who took part in the discussions dedicated to the problems of human resources, presented the Chamber’s vision.

Emphasis during the meeting was on measures to stimulate the economy, sustainable economic growth and employment and increasing competitiveness of European companies. Innovation as a factor for developing Europe’s competitiveness was also in the focus of discussion. The Juncker Plan is expected to be the catalyst for modernizing private capital in the economy.

The main conclusion from the discussion was that the collaboration and cooperation of the state, the business, and EU partners is a guarantee for achieving economic growth and preserving Europe’s lead role in setting the global economic agenda.
