49th Regular Meeting of the BSEC Business Council reported success for the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office of the Organization

The Presidency of the BCCI of the Business Council of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was reported successful for the first half of the year. This conclusion joined together the participants in the 49th Regular Meeting of the Organization held in Sofia.
Under the motto “Better synergy for increased competitiveness” the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office identified as priorities the following industries to be developed: transport, ICT, water and energy security, machinery and construction equipment, security. Emphasis is laid on promoting the cooperation between the Black Sea business sectors, and on the interaction between the Black Sea and the Danube region.
The President of the BCCI, Tsvetan Simeonov, presented in his report the activities that have been carried out, and recalled some of the major events held during the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office. Within the BSEC Business Council and with the support of the Organization’s Secretariat based in Turkey, the BCCI organized the participation at the International Exhibition SECURITY in March 2014 held in Sofia, as well as a Business Forum attended by more than 40 Bulgarian companies. The Conference on the Internationalization of the Economy in SEE and the Black Sea region, with the implementation of the CEFTA Agreement, held on 15th May 2014, was also reported among the events within the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office. Appearances in several international events related to agriculture, regional cooperation and others were also realized during this period.
Another initiative within the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office is about to be realized – the Regional Business Forum of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank /BSTDB/, which will be held from 20th to 22nd June this year in Sofia. The event is coherent to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the bank.
Greece shall hold the Chairmanship-in-Office of the Business Council of the Organization of BSEC in the second half of the year. Emmanuel Vlahogianis, member of the Board of Directors of Greece announced that two meetings of the Business Council have been planned to take place in September and December in Thessaloniki and Athens.
The participants in the meeting discussed the tragic accident in the city of Soma, Turkey, and offered their condolences to the relatives of the deceased in a letter to the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia.
