The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting “Promoting the economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan”. The meeting took place within the third session of the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Kazakh Economic Cooperation Committee, which was held in Sofia on 24th – 25th March 2014.
BCCI Secretary General Vassil Todorov highlighted the position of the Chamber to promote the realization of business events in order to support trade and effect business contacts. It was pointed out that Bulgarian companies show great interest in joint activities with partners from Kazakhstan in areas like machine building, trade, tourism.
Desislava Terzieva – Minister of the Regional Development of Bulgaria and Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Kazakh Economic Cooperation Committee, said that the opportunities in the bilateral economic relations between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan have not been used to the best. She assessed the economic cooperation with Kazakhstan as highly promising in perspective and voiced confidence that the meeting will shortly bring positive results.
Deputy-Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan Kairat Bektaevich Absattarov noted that the government continually aims at decreasing the administrative barriers to business. Investors are supported by the state through exemption from duties upon import of appliances and equipment, reduction of taxation, allocation of land for building of production facilities, etc.
During the session of the Intergovernmental Committee Bulgaria assessed as very promising in perspective the economic cooperation with Kazakhstan – the country of the fastest growing economy in Central Asia. Minister Desislava Terzieva brought to the fore the opportunity for Bulgarian companies of proven reputation and experience to participate in Kazakhstan's building programme.
Subject to discussion was Bulgaria's opportunity to increase its exports of various goods and services to Kazakhstan, as well as the development of tourism through opening direct airlines between Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Astana, Almaty, Atiray or Aktay.
