BCCI’s survey “United Kingdom – leaving the European Union”

The inefficiency of EU administration and the high costs for European integration are some of the main reasons for Brexit according to the opinions of the members of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed in a survey “United Kingdom - leaving the European Union” which was held in the period 28th June – 1st July.

Other reasons for Brexit cited by the companies that took part in the survey are British conservatism, direct contact with the Russian market, inability to handle the migration crisis, manipulation of public opinion through the publication of half-truths and populist propaganda in politics. According to BCCI’s members it is possible for individual countries to leave the United Kingdom.

The majority (90%) of the surveyed companies felt the need to seek solutions for change within the European Union itself.

46% of companies admit that eventual Brexit would not affect their business because they do not maintain commercial relations with British companies. For 27% of respondents the Brexit would have a negative impact on their business, while 20% do not expect significant changes even though they do business with British companies.
