The Mining and Processing Complex "Assarel Medet" - a direct member of BCCI, was awarded the grand prize of "Investor of the Year" for 2015 of the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BIA). The awards that were presented at a special ceremony on February 10 were given to the companies for the sustainable investments made by them, the opening of new jobs and the introduction of high technologies.
"Assarel Medet" and "Assarel Panagyurishte Health" in which the mining company is the majority shareholder, received the award for their project for a medical complex of 296 beds in the town where 700 hospital and non-hospital personnel would be employed. The project is worth about BGN 60 million.
The winner of the award for innovative business for 2015 is the manufacturer of climbing walls "Walltopia" (member of BCCI) which last year attracted new investors who invested EUR 11.4 million in the business.
The manufacturer of automotive components "Kostal Bulgaria", that opened their second plant in Smolyan (southern Bulgaria) last December, received award in the category "Investing in business expansion".
The award for "Investment in human capital" was received by "Standard Profile Bulgaria" (member of BCCI), the Stara Zagora enterprise for the production of rubber seals for the automotive industry.
In the category "Green Investment of the Year", the Jury honored “Woodward IDS” - supplier of innovative power electronic systems mainly for photovoltaic plants and wind turbines.
In this Award edition three honorary awards were presented as well. In the category "Successful startup", the company "Melissa Climate" that produces device for energy efficient management of air conditioners through a mobile application, was awarded.
The honorary award for "Investment in a merger/acquisition" was awarded to the American giant in the manufacture of flooring, “Mohawk Industries”, which in 2015 acquired the Bulgarian manufacturer of tiles "KAI Group".
The Municipality of Kostinbrod was awarded as the Bulgarian municipality with most investments.
