Representatives of the World Bank discussed with BCCI the possibilities of improving the business environment


Representatives of the World Bank visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed with the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov and a team of experts issues related to the business environment in Bulgaria. The occasion of the visit of the international organisation was a research over the productivity growth in Bulgaria; second phase of the report on population aging.
The President of the Chamber drew the attention to some specific examples and impediments for the companies in the field of labour market, regulations and taxes. Results of surveys conducted between the members of the Chamber on the issues discussed were also stated.
During the discussion Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov described the favorable tax environment in our country as an advantage but stressed on the need of undertaking additional measures for reaching progress – the most important of which are to reduce the burden on businesses, improve the services of the administrations and achieve stable legislation.
The team of the World Bank was introduced to the proposals made by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry before the competent authorities in our country with specific measures for optimizing the business environment and facilitating the activities of the SMEs.
Tsvetan Simeonov underlined the huge potential and range of the Chamber as an organisation of great history and tradition in Bulgaria, whose members include companies of all sizes – large, medium and small businesses from all sectors of economy, trade and services.
