In 2013 Bulgaria’s average unemployment rate was 11.3%, which is 1.1 percentage points lower than the envisaged 12.4%, the press centre of the National Employment Agency announced.
The registered unemployment rate in January was 11.9% and 12% in February. In the next months it gradually decreased to 10.7% in August. An increase was reported in the other four months yet the level from the beginning of the year was not reached.
The average number of registered unemployed people on a monthly basis was 371,380 people. In 2012, the number of unemployed people increased by almost 32,000 people, while the reported increase in 2013 was by 6,843 people.
Last year employers of the real economy announced 138,915 jobs, which were 11,772 more jobs compared to 2012. More than half of the jobs have been announced by the private sector.
