Abdulaziz Abdullah ALMATAR, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Sofia discussed with the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov the state of the bilateral relations. Potential for more active development of the bilateral trade and economic ties was ascertained.

The diplomat said that Saudi Arabia has taken a significant step towards better utilization of the existing potential and has opened an Embassy in Sofia, and now it was the Bulgarian side’s turn to undertake the same initiative. As per the mutual assessment of the Chamber and the Embassy, opening a Bulgarian Embassy in Riyadh would have an immediate effect on the number of tourists and the interest of entrepreneurs from Saudi Arabia.

Opportunities to exchange visits of delegations and to present the economy and investment climate of Saudi Arabia at a forum in Sofia were discussed. During the planned presentation, Bulgarian companies will learn about the sources of information on tenders and public procurements in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Almatar said that currently privatization is underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and there are plenty of opportunities and programmes for Bulgarian companies to participate. On the basis of the reached agreements with the Chamber of Commerce of Saudi Arabia, BCCI will help distribute this kind of information among businesses.
