H.E. Irene Maria Plank, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sofia, visited BCCI and talked with its President Tsvetan Simeonov. The meeting was also attended by Dr Sonia Rimmer, Head of the Economics Department to the Embassy, and Sonia Miklei, General Director of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
During the conversation, Mr Simeonov noted that this year, the Chamber is celebrating 130 years of its establishment. He acquainted the guests with the BCCI activity in support of the business. Currently, the Chamber represents about 53,000 companies with more than 600,000 employees. Its members also comprise 100 sectoral organisations which cover 52 sectors of the economy. The member companies form 47% of the GDP and 87% of the international trade of Bulgaria. The regional structure is well developed with the 28 Regional Chambers / Houses of Commerce and Industry.
The Chamber maintains long-standing and excellent cooperation with the Association of the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and over the years, many joint initiatives and projects have been organised and carried out.
