The focus of the meeting was on future EU trends regarding tax policies and the introduction of a minimum effective corporate tax rate.

Benjamin Angel presented proposals of the European Commission for the upcoming adoption of new directives in connection with the development of a new up-to-date international system for corporate taxation in implementation of the OECD initiatives, improvement of taxation rules within the single European market, and introduction of additional measures against the deviation from taxation.

Tsvetan Simeonov pointed out that we are proud of the low tax rates in our country and insist on preserving them as a prerequisite for attracting investors. He also mentioned the possibility of 0% corporate tax for enterprises operating in regions with a high unemployment rate (25% higher than average in the country), as well as the general view of all employers’ organizations for active measures for Bulgaria’s membership in the OECD.

The meeting continued with a discussion of the possible positive and negative effects on Bulgarian enterprises, in connection with the introduction of minimum tax rates in the EU, as well as the implementation of various future tax policies and the development of additional mechanisms for dispute resolution.
