The Ambassador of Argentina in Sofia visited BCCI



The Ambassador of Argentina in Sofia H.E. Alfredo Atanasoff visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with its President Tsvetan Simeonov. During the meeting, the newly appointed Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Argentina in Sofia, Juan Ignacio Camio Bavasso, was introduced.

The President of BCCI and his guests discussed future joint initiatives to support business in both countries. Tsvetan Simeonov presented the activities and priorities of the Chamber, focusing on the projects developed by the Investment Council at BCCI, on which companies from Bulgaria and Argentina can cooperate. It was agreed that the team of the "Economic Analysis and Policy" Department of the BCCI would assist with inquiries received from the Embassy’s Commercial Department.

According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Industry, in the first six months of 2021, Bulgaria's trade with Argentina amounted to USD 23.93 million compared to USD 23.19 million in the same period of 2020 (growth of 3.2%).

Bulgarian exports to Argentina recorded a drop of -30.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, with a value of USD 5.75 million, which is due to the registered decrease in the export of machinery and equipment for the preparation or processing of tobacco, materials for fireworks, etc. Imports from Argentina also registered a -16.3% decrease, falling to USD 39.26 million.
