Inflation and consumer price indices in June 2018

(RTTNews) - Bulgaria's consumer price inflation accelerated for the second straight month in June, figures from the National Statistical Institute showed Monday.

 

Inflation rose to 3.2 percent in June from 2.6 percent in May. Consumer prices have been rising since December 2016.

 

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 2.7 percent annually in June and utility costs rose by 4.4 percent. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear prices dropped 1.4 percent.

 

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent from May, when it gained by 0.3 percent.

 

The EU measure of inflation, or HICP, increased 3.0 percent annually and by 0.5 percent monthly in June.

In June 2018 compared to the previous month the prices of goods and services in the main consumer groups changed as follows:

• Food and non-alcoholic beverages - a decrease of 0.6%;

• Alcoholic beverages and tobacco - a decrease of 0.1%;

• Clothing and footwear - a decrease of 0.8%;

• Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - an increase of 0.2%;

• Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house - an increase of 0.1%; 1

• Health - an increase of 0.1%; • Transport - an increase of 2.2%;

• Communications - an increase of 0.1%;

• Recreation and culture - a decrease of 1.1%;

• Education - the prices remained at the level of the previous month;

• Restaurants and hotels - an increase of 1.5%;

• Miscellaneous goods and service - an increase of 0.1%
