The Bulgarian National Bank announced a base interest rate (simple per annum interest) of 3.53% as of August 1.
The base interest rate was 3.63% in July, down by 3.78% in June. The simple per annum interest of 3.78% was effective as of May 1. In April, the base rate was 3.79%. It peaked at 3.80% in March, the highest since the zero interest rate of the last few years. In January and February it was 3.79%.
From February 2016 to the end of September 2022, the base interest rate was 0.00%. In October 2022, it went up by 0.49%.
A year ago, in August 2023, the base interest rate was 3.29%.
