Bulgarian trade with EU for the period January - July 2012
In the period January - July 2012 Bulgarian exports to the EU decreased by 0.6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to BGN 13.8 billion. The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium that formed 71.4% of the exports to the EU Member States.
In July 2012 the exports to the EU increased by 0.1% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 2.2 billion.
Bulgarian imports from the EU in the period January - July 2012 increased by 12.3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and added up to BGN 17.1 billion at CIF prices. The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and Spain.
In July 2012 Bulgarian imports from the EU Member States grew by 3.3% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and added up to BGN 2.6 billion at CIF prices.
The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with EU in the period January – July 2012 was negative and added up to BGN 3 336.1 million. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was also negative and amounted to BGN 2 659.1 million.
In the first seven months of 2012 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year the largest growth (40.6%) in the exports of Bulgaria to EU distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification was recorded in the section “Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials” and the most notable fall (30.8%) - in section “Crude materials, inedible (except fuels)”.
Bulgarian trade with third countries for the period January - August 2012
In the period January - August 2012 Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by 9.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to BGN 10.9 billion. The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, Russia, Serbia and the FYR of Macedonia that formed 47.1% of the exports to non-EU countries.
In August 2012 the exports to third countries increased by 38.5% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 1.7 billion.
Bulgarian imports from third countries in the first eight months of 2012 increased by 14.6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and added up to BGN 13.8 billion (at CIF prices). The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Peru, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Vietnam and South Africa .
In August 2012 Bulgarian imports from third countries grew by 27.0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 1.9 billion.
The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in the period January - August 2012 was negative and added up to BGN 2 838.8 million. The trade balance at FOB /FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and amounted to BGN 2 213.8 million.
In August 2012 the foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative and amounted to BGN 187.5 million.
In the first eight months of 2012 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year the largest growths in the exports of Bulgaria to third countries distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification were recorded in the sections “Beverages and tobacco” ( 33.8%) and “Food and live animals” (22.3% ) .
In imports from third countries the largest growths were reported in sections “Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes” (40.2%) and “Machinery and transport equipment” (36.1%). Decrease was observed only in section “Food and live animals”- (20.7%).
Bulgarian trade with third countries and EU - total
In the first eight months of 2012 the value of all exported goods from Bulgaria amounted to BGN 26.6 billion and compared to the corresponding period of 2011 the exports increased by 2.3%.
In August 2012 the total exports added up to BGN 3.6 billion and grew by 6.2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
The total value of all goods imported in the country in the period January - August 2012 amounted to BGN 33.1 billion (at CIF prices), or by 13.1% more than the corresponding period of the previous year.
In August 2012 the total imports increased by 16.7% compared to August 2011 and added up to BGN 4.1 billion.
The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative in the period January – August 2012 and amounted to BGN 6 426.4 million which was BGN 3 230.5 million more than the balance in the first eight months of 2011. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) in the period January – August 2012 the total foreign trade balance was also negative and amounted to BGN 5 014.0 million.
In August 2012 the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative and added up to BGN 439.0 million. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices was also negative and amounted to BGN 237.5 million.
