The preliminary data of National Statistical Institute showed that the Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, decreased by 2.0% in February 2013 as compared to January 2013.
In February 2013 working day adjusted4 Industrial Production Index rose by 5.1% in comparison with the same month of 2012.
Annual comparisons
On annual basis in February 2013 Industrial Production Index, calculated from working day adjusted data increased in the manufacturing by 7.4% and in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 3.6%, while in the mining and quarrying industry a decrease by 6.0% was seen.
In the manufacturing, the more significant increases compared to the same month of the previous year were seen in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products by 41.5%, in the manufacture of paper and paper products by 41.0%, in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products by 29.3%, in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 14.3%, in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 12.3%. Decreases were registered in the manufacture of basic metals by 11.0%, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 10.8%, the manufacture of food products by 10.5%.
Monthly comparisons
In February 2013 as compared to January 2013, the seasonally adjusted Industrial Production Index decreased in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 9.4%, in the mining and quarrying industry by 5.4% and in the manufacturing by 0.7%.
The most significant decreases of production in the manufacturing were seen in the manufacture of basic metals by 39.9%, in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 12.6%, in the manufacture of textiles by 11.4%, in the manufacture of beverages by 8.4%, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 8.3%, in the manufacture of food products by 6.0%. There was increase in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 18.0%, in the manufacture of paper and paper products by 8.7%, in the manufacture of tobacco products by 6.7%.
