The Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, increased by 1.2% in September 2014 as compared to August 2014, according to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI). In September 2014 working day adjusted Industrial Production Index fell by 0.4% in comparison with the same month of 2013.
In September 2014 as compared to August 2014, the seasonally adjusted Industrial Production Index increased in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the manufacturing by 1.8%, while in the mining and quarrying industry a decrease by 8.0% was seen. The most significant increases of production in the manufacturing were registered in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 18.9%, in the printing and reproduction of recorded media by 11.0%, in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 8.0%, in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers by 7.9%, in the manufacture of tobacco products by 7.0%. There was a decrease in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 6.4%, in the manufacture of furniture by 5.7%, in the manufacture of beverages by 4.3%.
In the manufacturing, the more significant increases compared to the same month of the previous year were seen in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers by 30.5%, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 28.4%, in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 23.9%, in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 15.4%, in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 12.7%.
