Trade with EU for 2012
In 2012 the Bulgarian exports to the EU decreased by 3.6% compared to the previous year and amounted to 23.8 Billion Levs. Main trade partners of Bulgaria were Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France, Belgium and Spain which accounted for 75.6% of the exports to the EU Member States.
In December 2012 the exports to the EU decreased by 10.0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 1.7 Billion Levs.
Bulgarian imports from the EU in 2012 increased by 7.5% compared to the previous year and added up to 29.2 Billion Levs at CIF prices. The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and Spain.
In December 2012 the Bulgarian imports from the EU Member States decreased by 7.9% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and added up to 2.2 Billion Levs at CIF prices.
The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with EU in 2012 was negative and added up to 5 446.2 Million Levs. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was also negative and amounted to 4 302.3 Million Levs.
In 2012 compared to the previous year the largest growth (22.1%) in the exports of Bulgaria to EU distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification was recorded in the section “Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials” and the most notable fall (27.0%) - in section “Crude materials, inedible (except fuels)”.
In imports from EU the largest increase (42.5%) was reported in section “Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials” while a decrease (8.0%) was observed in section “Crude materials, inedible (except fuels)”.
Trade with third countries
In January 2013
In January 2013 the Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by 34.8% compared to the corresponding month of 2012 and amounted to 1.5 Billion Levs. Main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Serbia and United States which accounted for 48.0% of the exports to non EU countries.
Bulgarian imports from third countries in January 2013 grew by 21.2% compared to the corresponding month of 2012 and added up to 1.7 Billion Levs (at CIF prices). The largest amounts were reported for the goods imported from Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Ukraine.
The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in January 2013 was negative and added up to 199.6 Million Levs. The trade balance at FOB /FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and amounted to 119.0 Million Levs.
In January 2013 compared to the corresponding month of 2012 largest growths in the exports of Bulgaria to third countries distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification was recorded in the section “Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials” (78.2%). A fall was reported in section “Crude materials, inedible (except fuel)” (0.5%).
In imports from third countries the largest growth (80.4%) was reported in section “Crude materials, inedible (except fuel)” while a decrease (19.7%) was observed in section “Machinery and transport equipment”.
Bulgarian trade with third countries and EU – total
In January 2013 the value of all exported goods from Bulgaria amounted to 3.5 Billion Levs and compared to the corresponding month of 2012 the exports increased by 23.9%.
The total value of all the goods imported in the country in January 2013 amounted to 3.7 Billion Levs (at CIF prices), or by 6.4% more than the corresponding month of 2012.
The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative in January 2013 and amounted to 241.2 Million Levs which was 448 Million Levs less than the balance in January 2012. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the total foreign trade balance was also negative and amounted to 57.7 Million Levs.
