The European Commission approved Operational Programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020
OP Transport and Transport Infrastructutre 2014-2020 has been approved by the European Commission, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced after a meeting with the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
EUR 800 million under the new programme is dedicated to the construction of roads, such as the Struma and Hemus highways and the tunnel under mount Shipka. EUR 400 million would go towards the subway in the capital and EUR 1.6 billion - towards Bulgarian Railways. Hemus highway was currently being financed up to the town of Lovech, and once completed the project would enter its second stage. The entire lot of Struma highway as well as the tunnel under mount Shipka would be funded under the new program.
