The Government Debt of Bulgaria for 2013 is 18.9% of GDP


On the basis of preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute and approved by the Eurostat with no reservations in 2013 the deficit of the General Government sector amounted to 1.178 million BGN or 1.5% of GDP.

The deficit in Central Government amounted to 1.424 million BGN or 1.8 % of GDP and in Social Security Funds - 81 million BGN - 0.1% of GDP. The Local Government sub-sector reported a surplus of 327 million BGN (0.4% of GDP).

The Government Debt of Bulgaria for 2013 is 14.733 million BGN or 18.9% of GDP.

According to the fresh data, Bulgaria ranked as the EU country with the second-lowest GDP in 2013, lagging only behind Estonia, which had a debt amounting to 10% the size of its economy.
