On September, 1st a new customs office will be open in Vidin, due to the opening of the new Danube bridge between Vidin and Kalafat, Romania. The decision was taken on 14th August, during the weekly session of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
According to statistical data around 31,500 vehicles have passed the bridge in two weeks, and more than 11,000 of those have been trucks. A new customs terminal has been built in the Northern city, completely funded by the European Union.
There are already two border crossings with Serbia in the region – Bregovo and Vrashka chuka. There are also several ports on the river Danube and a Free Economic Zone close to Vidin.
