Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held a working meeting with Zornitsa Apostolova, the newly appointed Bulgarian Ambassador to Finland. The discussion focused on the preparation of the Ambassador’s mission and the strategic organization of her work. Simeonov offered the Chamber’s full support in promoting bilateral economic relations, with particular emphasis on sectors such as tourism, the food industry, agriculture, and organic production. The potential for hosting a virtual or hybrid event to present Bulgaria’s economic and business landscape to Finnish partners was also explored.
The meeting emphasized the importance of increasing Bulgaria’s visibility at tourism fairs across the Scandinavian Peninsula to draw more visitors from the Nordic region.
Although bilateral trade is currently limited, both countries highlighted its significant potential for expansion and diversification.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Industry, bilateral trade in 2024 totaled €201.39 million, with exports of €86.45 million and imports of €114.93 million, resulting in a negative balance of €28.47 million. In the first half of 2025, bilateral trade reached €111.88 million, reflecting a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
