Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Regional Development and Investment Planning Ekaterina Zaharieva and Chairman of the People's Committee of the city of Da Nang Van Huu Chien discussed oppportunities for cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam.
The Vietnamese delegation included representatives of the National Committee of the city of Da Nang and the construction business.
Deputy Prime Minister Zaharieva pointed out that the Bulgarian government continued to believe that there was great potential for development of relations between the two countries. She added that she hoped for good cooperation not only at the state level, but also between the cities of the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the advantages Bulgaria had to offer as an investment destination, including lower tax rates.
Mr. Van Huu Chien said that the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the cities of Da Nang and Varna was made possible thanks to the efforts of the two governments. The document aims to increase contacts in the field of tourism, the marine industry, high technology, education, culture, transport, communications and logistics.
“I hope this memorandum is implemented in specific projects in the near future”, Ekaterina Zaharieva said. She added that Bulgaria’s largest port in Varna was a gateway for Asian goods - not only to Bulgaria but also to the entire European Union. As additional advantages she mentioned the presence of an airport and a highway.
