JYSK to invest up to EUR 100 M in Sofia-Bozhurishte Economic Zone

Memorandum on investment plan was signed at a ceremony in the Council of Ministers

The Danish retail chain JYSK will invest up to EUR 100 M in the Sofia-Bozhurishte Economic Zone located on the outskirts of the Bulgarian capital.

At its regular meeting on 20 January, the Bulgarian Government approved the sale of a property in the economic zone owned by National Company Industrial Zones to JYSK.

The investment project of JYSK foresees the construction and exploitation of a large innovative logistics centre which will service the activities of the company as well as other companies from the JYSK Group in Central and Eastern Europe.

At present, JYSK operates more than 2300 stores in 41 countries around the world, with the company having an annual turnover of around EUR 2.9 B.

The initial investment will amount to EUR 50 M, with expectations being for it to increase to EUR 100 M.

The investment will be made between 2016 and 2018, with the maintenance period being at least twenty years.

Following the investment, the number of people employed in the company is expected to increase to 120, with an option for their number to rise to 200. Around 500 people will be engaged in the construction.
