A business delegation from Bulgaria will visit the Kingdom of Morocco this autumn. The announcement was made during the visit of Ivan Tomov, Head of the Commercial and Economic Office – Morocco, to the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). He met with the President of BCCI Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov and presented the current state of economic relations between the two countries.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Industry, in 2024, the bilateral trade between Bulgaria and Morocco reached over USD 361 million – an increase of 8% compared to 2023. Experts attribute this growth primarily to a 16.2% rise in the Bulgarian exports to the North African country. Over the period 2014–2024, Morocco recorded positive net foreign direct investment in Bulgaria amounting to EUR 2.3 million (according to information from the Bulgarian National Bank).
The country demonstrates stable economic development and is a reliable partner in the Euro-Mediterranean region, while the city of Zagora in Morocco is twinned with Stara Zagora in Bulgaria, according to the Commercial and Economic Section. This, in turn, creates potential for future cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, including the economy, education, and culture, the meeting further highlighted.
During the meeting at BCCI, it was emphasized that the present moment offers an excellent opportunity to arrange a business visit of Bulgarian companies to Morocco, given the strong interest expressed by the Moroccan side during previous visitsIn this regard, BCCI, in cooperation with the diplomatic missions of both countries, has started preparations for the Bulgarian delegation’s visit to Morocco at the end of October this year.
