Meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel


H.E. Yoram Elron, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel visited BCCI and met with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov.

The currents state of the commercial and economic relations between Bulgaria and the State of Israel was discussed. Tsvetan Simeonov presented to Ambassador Elron the Chamber’s membership in international organizations, the work of the Unified Trade Register and the Arbitration Court at BCCI. It was noted that there was a strong interest from the business in both countries to enhance cooperation in the field of water supply and information technologies.

According to the Ministry of Economy, trade between Bulgaria and Israel for the first half of 2019 increased by nearly 20% compared to the same period of 2018, reaching USD 92.6 million. The increase in trade is due to the registered growth of 27.7% in Bulgarian exports. An increase in the sales of Bulgarian petroleum oils, plastics and glass was reported, while significant wheat exports were also realized. Israeli imports for the first six months of 2019 amounted to USD 29.9 million, showing a slight increase of 5.3% over the same period in 2018.
