H.E. Priangika Dharmasena, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Warsaw, who was accredited to Bulgaria as well, visited BCCI and talked with its Vice President Dr Vasil Todorov.
Mr Todorov underlined the importance of the good cooperation with embassies and stated that with the support of diplomatic missions, BCCI successfully organises different business-oriented events, including presentations, business delegations and bilateral business forums, among others. Mr Todorov presented in detail to the guest the Chamber’s different services, provided to businesses, as well as the activity of BCCI as a nationally recognised Employers’ organisation. The system of regional chambers / houses and the sectoral organisations were presented as well.
Ambassador Dharmasena gave information on the exchange of goods between Sri Lanka and Bulgaria, which last year amounted to around 14 million US dollars; that is insufficient, taking into account the potential of the two economies. Sri Lanka is recovering at a fast tempo from the recession, suffered in recent years. In the past year 2024, the country recorded an economic growth of 5%.
The talk drew attention to the fact that the Asian country has highly qualified personnel in different sectors of the economy and that it is possible to make import of workforce to our country.
At the end of the talk, Ambassador Dharmasena extended an invitation to Bulgarian companies to take part in the forthcoming conference, called Disrupt Asia 2025, which is of particular interest to technology companies and start-ups.
